LPA (lasting Power of Attorney)

If you are unable to manage your own affairs, an LPA appoints someone of your choice to do it for you, there are two types of LPA:

  1. A property and financial affairs LPA which allows you to choose a person to handle your bank accounts, investments, bills, and property etc.

  2. A health and Welfare LPA which covers all decisions about your health and care.

Various health conditions can compel you to enter into an LPA for example, having Dementia can make financial and health decisions virtually impossible to do on your own. If you lose the mental capacity to make these decisions without an LPA in place it could cost your family valuable time and money to obtain permission to handle your affairs.
